Here's My Woodturning!

I am a self taught woodturner/wood artist from the village of Bacton in Norfolk UK. I live there with my wife, young son and daughter.

I began woodturning in October 2008 on a whim, I thought a lathe would be a handy tool for making a few bits and pieces with and bought a modest one. As soon as I started using it I discovered that this was the thing I was meant to be doing! I can not think of anything else I so quickly and naturally took to. I began to make all the practical items such as fruit bowls, goblets, platters, clocks etc that can be seen at any craft fair attended by a woodturner but this was soon surpassed by my own artistic side. I found that turning and embellishing things was the perfect outlet for my creative flow and wood the perfect medium for me to express my own artistic styles and designs. Although I still do turn the more practical items my passion lies solidly within the creative.

I have since those early days upgraded to a very much larger lathe, the size, weight, stability and power of this new machine give me even greater versatility in what can be produced along with an ever growing collection of tools for carving, texturing, patterning and colouring the pieces I produce.
